Problem Description: Email configuration is set up on some of our projects however the email is not automatically pulling into the project. Auto import option checked in the project settings and connection tested successful. Users can manually import to confirm that issue is not the email settings but seems definitely the application.

Resolution: Make sure that the CM web server allows communication with the outside world. If the web server has been placed in a DMZ it may not be able to reach the email account you have specified or it might be able to go out but not have the ability to bring the data onto the server.
You can test this by going directly to the server console and setting up Outlook Express or Outlook to pull the mail from the settings you have put in CM. If Outlook cannot get the mail then either the settings that you are using are wrong or the server is locked down so that it can't access the email system(s).
